Scrutiny

I have been pretty stressed on financial situations due to medical issues with Braden. Some friends of mine started some fundraising. I knew that there would be more eyes on us, etc, as always when there is help being for someone.

I told Matt I felt like if I met someone at WalMart they were looking in my basket to see what I was buying. Like if we needed help for medical then we shouldn't splurge at all. What a lot don't realize is there is a big difference in buying a $5 treat for the kids and having $4,200.00 up front for medical treatment.

We are also under a lot of scrutiny it seems. Also it seems that if someone helps then they think that automatically means they can question our decisions. What has surprised me most is who is doing the scrutinizing people that I never would have thought. People who are now calling me questioning my decisions, thinking they have a right to do that.

So the fundraising is a double edge...one side a tremendous relief and blessing, the other a pain.

Oh gosh, how frustrating! I don't even see how some people can have the nerve to actually call you up and question you, especially about something as personal as financial matters. While it's true that you are accepting help, I still don't think that's a reason to be put under the microscope. I think people like that are probably miserable with their own lives and jealous that there are people who want to give you a helping hand.

The thing is, when you ask for money publicly, they have the right to ask questions. I mean, public is, well, public. You make a public scene of something, saying how bad things are, asking for cash. So many pity cards are played on everything, how can you say you are above any scrutiny? If you are going to gravel for money, don't act like you are in the position to judge. Last time I checked, you kneel to beg.

Yo Dustin Dude, You shouldn't really post a biting comment without first knowing some important facts of the story. First of all she DIDN'T ask for money. She has her pride. Her friends are all trying to help her and they started the fundraisers not her. Second if you are going to use the word grovel learn how to spell it g-r-O-v-e-l.

I agree with blue eyes on that one Dustin.

Also it appears she conveyed the fact she expected the scrutiny, just not the source of that scrutiny.

Well the most important thing to remember is that this is for her son. As a parent, I can't even imagine going through what she has been through, with all the hospital visits and tests. There is nothing more painful than having to witness your own child going through such things. On top of that, there are all the medical bills that can debilitate even someone living on a more-than-modest income.

I think it's wonderful that there are people who have stepped up to the plate to give her family a helping hand. I find it disgusting that there are those who choose to focus more on the fact that she is doing this for greed and a way to take advantage of people, when I really don't think that is the case.
